Bears win at first doubles

Hickory, N.C. - The Wingate University Women's Tennis Team (6-1, 1-0) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University (0-4, 0-1), 8-1, in the South Atlantic Conference opener for both teams Thursday afternoon at Hickory High School.
The Lenoir-Rhyne combination of sophomore Kelsey Love (Port Orange, Fla.) and junior Emily Mauser (Hickory, N.C.) won at first doubles for the Bears.
The duo is now 3-0 together at doubles on the year when they beat Wingate's Kara Stasikelis (Greenville, S.C.) and Kelli Ferguson (Concord, N.C.), 9-7.
Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Greeneville, Tenn., to face league-power Tusculum Friday at 4:00 p.m. Wingate, meanwhile, plays at Charleston (W.Va.) on Sunday beginning at Noon.
