Rock Hill, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne's Cameron Sealey has been named to the 2010-11 All-South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball First Team while Bear mentor Todd Starkey earned league coach-of-the-year honors for the third straight season, league officials announced today.
Sealey is second in the conference in scoring (17.9 ppg) this season and led the squad in free throw percentage (.801), steals (50) and three-pointers made (49) in 2010-11.
Sealey, a junior guard from Mount Holly, N.C., also became the 17th player in school history to score 1,000 points in her career.
Sealey has also earned all-league honors for the past two seasons and has 1,043 points after three years of play.
Whitney Brinkley, a forward from Asheville, N.C., was named to the 2010-11 SAC All-Freshman Team after finishing second on the team in scoring (9.0 ppg) and free throw percentage (.723) while leading the squad in field goal percentage (.478).
Starkey, who crossed the 100-win mark this year, helped guide the Bears (14-13, 11-7) to their fifth straight winning season and a third-place finish in the conference standings after being picked seventh in the preseason coaches poll.
Starkey, who just completed his sixth year with Lenoir-Rhyne, was named the 2008-09 NCAA Division II National Coach Of The Year by the WBCA.
