St. Andrews Presbyterian Surges Past Lenoir-Rhyne, 16-12, In Men's Lacrosse

Hickory, N.C. - The St. Andrews Presbyterian College Men's Lacrosse Team (5-5) scored half its goals in the third period en route to a 16-12 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University (2-6) Wednesday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.

The Knights' Daniel Shields (Mercer Island, Wash.) finished with six goals and six assists while Alex Tindall (Edmonds, Wash.) added two goals and two assists en route to the win.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Tyler Kotch (Butler, Pa.) tallied a team-high four goals and freshman Levi Capron (Weddington, N.C.) scored three times for the Bears despite the loss.

With the score tied at five at intermission, St. Andrews Presbyterian took control with eight goals in the third period in building a 13-8 advantage heading into the final stanza.

The Knights wouldn't let their lead get under three goals the rest of the way.  St. Andrews Presbyterian goalkeeper Kyle Davitt (Shoreview, Minn.) was credited with the win after tallying 10 saves.

Freshmen Luke Nealon (Naples, Fla.) and Corron Boston (Durham, N.C.) added two goals each while junior Patrick Stasio (Williamsville, N.Y.) picked up the loss in goal despite stopping 13 shots for the Bears.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns to Deep South Conference action on Saturday when it hosts Catawba beginning at 1 p.m.  St. Andrews Presbyterian, meanwhile, faces Limestone in Gaffney, S.C., next Wednesday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
