Freshman John White led Lenoir-Rhyne University with a 12th-place finish Tuesday at the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Invitational at the Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation in Charlotte, N.C. |
Charlotte, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Golf Team shot a 312 (+24) to finish tied for fifth out of 12 schools at the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Invitational which took place Tuesday at the Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.
Tusculum won the event with a 295 (+7) and was victorious by one stroke over the host school, Wingate, on the par-72, 6,936-yard course. The tournament was shortened to one day and 18 holes because of rain on Monday.
Wingate's Clifford Blanquicet won the event with a three-under 69. Freshman John White (Granite Falls, N.C.) was L-R's top golfer at the tournament after finishing tied for 12th with a 76 (+4).
Junior Sam Pressley (Knoxville, Tenn.) tied for 16th overall with a 77 (+5) and sophomore Brandon Squier (Advance, N.C.) shot a 79 (+7), good for a 26th-place tie.
Lenoir-Rhyne next competes in the Carolina Sands Intercollegiate on April 2 and 3 in White Lake, N.C.
