Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Sweeps Mars Hill, 3-0, For Fourth Straight Win

Senior Brooke Christenbury leads the Bears with 11 kills
Freshman defensive specialist Emily Culler led Lenoir-Rhyne with 15 digs in a 3-0 victory over South Atlantic Conference-foe Mars Hill Tuesday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.
Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (15-9, 7-6) pushed its winning streak to four matches with a 3-0 sweep of Mars Hill College (11-7, 6-6) Tuesday evening in a South Atlantic Conference match at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. The Bears prevailed by scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-20.
L-R senior outside hitter Brooke Christenbury (Mooresville, N.C.) led the way with a match-high 11 kills to go along with 13 digs while junior setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) added 17 assists and nine digs as the Bears finished off their second consecutive sweep.
Freshman defensive specialist Emily Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) finished with a team-high 15 digs for L-R, who tallied 10.5 blocks as a team en route to the win and avenged an earlier loss to Mars Hill.
The Lions were led by Hannah Wilson (Fletcher, N.C.) and Becca Smith (Candler, N.C.) with 11 assists each and Maggie Murphy (Richmond, Va.) with a match-high 24 digs despite the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home on Thursday when it hosts Brevard in a conference match beginning at 7 p.m.
Mars Hill, looking to snap a two-match losing streak, next hosts Catawba in a South Atlantic Conference match on Friday. The match time is set for 7 p.m.
