Hickory, N.C. - The Catawba College Volleyball Team (17-6, 11-4) moved into a second-place tie in the South Atlantic Conference standings with a 3-1 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University (17-11, 8-7) Friday eveningat Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. The Indians prevailed by scores of 20-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 25-18.

Catawba's Jordan Raye (Boonville, N.C.) led the way with a triple-double (10 kills, 38 assists and 12 digs) as the Indians swept the season series from the Bears.

Shay Meeks (Kings Mountain, N.C.) and Kaitlyn Whitmer (Ferrum, Va.) added 16 and 15 kills, respectively, and Jenny Young (Roanoke, Va.) tallied a match-high 37 digs for Catawba, who increased its winning streak to five matches.

Lenoir-Rhyne was led by senior outside hitter Brooke Christenbury (Mooresville, N.C.) with 15 kills and 14 digs and freshman outsider hitter Whitney Brinkley (Asheville, N.C.) added nine kills and 12 digs in the losing effort.

Sophomore setter Kaitlyn Burton (Mills River, N.C.) tallied a double-double as well for the Bears - 16 assists and 10 digs - but L-R lost for the first time in six league contests.

Catawba also finished with nine service aces in winning the final three sets after dropping the first one to Lenoir-Rhyne.

L-R hosts 15th-ranked and undefeated Wingate on Senior Nightin a South Atlantic Conference match Tuesday at 7 p.m. Catawba plays at Brevard on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
