L-R's Kate Griewisch Finishes First At The Dick Taylor Invitational In Indoor Track And Field

Senior from Banner Elk, N.C., finishes first in the 3,000-meter run
Lenoir-Rhyne senior Kate Griewisch won the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:03 at the 2012 Dick Taylor Invitational Friday at the Eddie Smith Field House in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Chapel Hill, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne senior Kate Griewisch (Banner Elk, N.C.) finished first out of 25 runners in the women's 3,000-meter run at the 2012 Dick Taylor Invitational Friday at the Eddie Smith Field House on the campus of the University of North Carolina.
The indoor track and field meet was Lenoir-Rhyne's second of the year and first in 2012.
Griewisch, a 2011 NCAA Division II All-American in outdoor track and field, ran a 10:03 and finished six seconds better than her nearest competitor.
L-R sophomore Ashley Kale (Maiden, N.C.) placed 21st in the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:29 as well.
Redshirt freshman AnQuinette Crawford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) was the Bears' top runner in the 60-meter dash as she finished 38th in 8.89 seconds while L-R sophomore Taylor Oliver (Toms River, N.J.) finished the 60-meter hurdles in 10.62 seconds, good for 37th overall.
On the men's side, Lenoir-Rhyne senior James Pone (Wilson, N.C.) placed 17th in the 60-meter dash with a 7.06 while sophomore Mike Ryan (Sewickley, Pa.) ran the 3,000-meter run in 9:43 to place 22nd.
Both Lenoir-Rhyne squads competed in the distance medley relay event with the men finishing seventh (10:57) and the women's team placing ninth (13:23).
The final day of the invitational takes place on Saturday beginning with the field events at 10:00 a.m., while the running events are set to begin at Noon.
