Birmingham, Ala. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Golf Team shot a 718 (+142) to tie for 11th place at the 2012 Ann Rhoads Invitational which concluded Monday at the Valley Course at Oxmoor Valley. Birmingham Southern served as the host school.
Indianapolis, the 17th-ranked school in NCAA Division II, won the tournament with a 644 (+68) on the par-72, 5,809-yard course.
Senior Katie Thackerson (Earl, N.C.) was L-R's top golfer as she carded a 165 (+21) to finish in the 13th overall while Indianaoplis' Darin Pinnick won in a playoff over Methodist's Jennifer Sullivan. Both players shot a 158 (+14).
Meanwhile, junior Megan Katsch (Wilmington, N.C.) finished with a 179 (+35) to tie for 52nd and sophomore Grace Brahler (Lawrence, Kan.) and senior Ashley Shealy (Lexington) both tied for 71st with a 187 (+43) after 36 holes of play.
Lenoir-Rhyne next competes in the Lady Pirate Invitational on March 5 and 6 in Savannah, Ga. The tournament is hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State University.
