Three career records for the Bears fall on Sunday
Lenoir-Rhyne senior Dawon Millwood became the school's all-time leader in career victories with 74 after winning the first game of the day for the Bears Sunday afternoon at the Catawba Invitational.
Salisbury, N.C. - The No. 18 Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team defeated East Stroudsburg (9-3) and Barton (10-2) Sunday on the final day of the Catawba Invitational at Salisbury Community Park to complete a perfect run at the tournament. L-R (16-2) ran its winning streak to nine games in the process.

Senior pitcher Dawon Millwood (Hixson, Tenn.) went the distance for the Bears and became the school's all-time leader in wins with 74. Millwood allowed just three runs while striking out six batters in improving to 8-1 on the year.
Senior catcher Sarah Atkins (Newport News, Va.) hit two home runs and finished with four runs batted in to lead the Bears offensively on the day.
With her performance in the contest, Atkins broke both of L-R's career records for home runs and runs batted in.
Holding a 5-3 lead in the top of the sixth inning, L-R put the game away thanks to a three-run home run from senior designated player Brittany Davidson (Fort Defiance, Va.).
For East Stroudsburg, Taylor Webb (West Babylon, N.Y.) suffered the loss while Rachel Gieringer (Horsham, Pa.) led the Warriors with a home run, three hits and two runs batted in despite the setback.
Lenoir-Rhyne 10, Barton 2 (six innings)
Trailing 2-0, Lenoir-Rhyne reeled off 10 straight runs en route to the win including a five-run third inning which featured three consecutive home runs.
The back-to-back-to-back home runs were hit by freshman second baseman Chelsea Castellanos (Miami Lakes, Fla.), senior shortstop Carlee Carpenter (Newton, N.C.) and sophomore third baseman Haily Jarman (Wadesboro, N.C.).
Atkins added a two-run home run as part of a four-run fourth inning for the Bears. Atkins now has 41 home runs and 164 RBI in a Bear uniform.
Senior Lauren Harris (Yadkinville, N.C.) improved to 4-0 on the year after being credited with the win. Harris allowed just one earned run for the contest while Barton's Autumn Pittman (Pikeville, N.C.) suffered the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne 10, Massachusetts-Lowell 2 (six games)
The Bears hit four home runs including three-run round-trippers by sophomore shortstop Jody Mizelle (Colerain, N.C.) and junior designated player Megan Laxton (Taylorsville, N.C.) in a run-ruled victory.
Mizelle's home run opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning while junior first baseman Jessica Fellmeth (Waxhaw, N.C.) ended the game in bottom of the sixth inning with a solo shot for the Bears, who run-ruled the River Hawks.
Jarman finished with three hits, three runs scored, a two-run home run and two runs batted in while Harris picked up the win on the mound for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Lenoir-Rhyne 7, West Chester 2
Fellmeth hit her second home run of the day, a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth inning, and senior outfielder Tameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.) added a two-run double in the second frame to lead the Bears to the win.
Millwood took the win on the mound for the Bears after limiting the Golden Rams to just two runs while scattering six hits and striking out six batters on the game.
Lenoir-Rhyne next plays in the Mid-South Classic in Spartanburg, S.C., at the 295 Complex beginning on Friday against Glenville State at 6:00 p.m.
