Box Score

Anderson, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (8-22, 4-9) narrowly beat Anderson (8-20, 2-11), 6-5, Friday evening in the first game of a South Atlantic Conference weekend series at Memorial Stadium.

Junior first baseman Colton Hansley (Asheville, N.C.) hit a two-run home run while senior outfielder Stephan Arcieri (Roswell, Ga.) drove in a game-high three runs to lead the Bears to their second straight win.  Both players also finished with two hits for the game.

Arcieri broke a five-all tie with a two-out, RBI single in the top of the ninth inning which proved to be the game-winner for the Bears.

A four-run fifth inning gave Lenoir-Rhyne a 5-2 advantage thanks to Hansley's two-run home run, his second of the year, and a two-run single from Arcieri.

However, Anderson rallied to tie the score at five on an RBI sacrifice fly from Blake May (Largo, Fla.) in the seventh before L-R won the contest in the ninth inning.

May finished with two hits and three runs batted in while Zach Reeves (Greenville, S.C.) added two hits, two runs scored and one run batted in to lead the Trojans despite the loss.

On the mound, Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Aaron Bentley (Lenoir, N.C.) (1-0) was credited with the win while senior Blake Edmonson (Newton, N.C.) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his first save of the year.  Anderson's Jacob Saxon (Anderson, S.C.) fell to 0-1 with the loss.

The two squads will wrap up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
