L-R's Dawon Millwood Named The SAC Softball Pitcher Of The Week For The Fourth Time This Year

Senior from Hixson, Tenn., goes 6-0 for the week in leading the Bears to seven wins

Lenoir-Rhyne University's Dawon Millwood has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher Of The Week for the fourth time this year, league officials announced today.

Rock Hill, S.C. - For the fourth time this season, Lenoir-Rhyne's Dawon Millwood has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher Of The Week.

Millwood, a senior from Hixson, Tenn., went 6-0 for the week with a 0.71 earned run average, one shutout and 32 strikeouts in leading the Bears to seven wins in eight contests.

Millwood threw a five-hit shutout, her seventh of the season, in a 5-0 victory in game one of a doubleheader sweep of USC Aiken on Wednesday in Aiken, S.C.

Millwood also started and won both games of a conference doubleheader last Saturday against Newberry, 3-1 and 5-2, at Bears Field.

Millwood, a three-time all-league performer (2009-11) and the 2011 South Atlantic Conference Pitcher Of The Year, is currently 17-4 on the season with a 1.31 earned run average and 130 strikeouts.

In addition, Millwood is the Bears' all-time leader in wins (83) and shutouts (32) and earned the conference award for the second straight week.

Catawba's Tara Gibbs and Brevard's Kayla Clemens were named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Co-Players Of The Week.

Lenoir-Rhyne (28-9, 4-2), winners of sixth straight, will return to league play with a doubleheader at Wingate on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m.
