Bears win the tournament after being six strokes down after the first round

Southern Pines, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Golf Team shot a 599 (+23) to rally and win the Pinehurst Challenge which concluded Tuesday afternoon at the National Golf Club.

The Bears carded a 297 (+9) on the par-72, 7,122-yard course during the final round after being in fourth place and six strokes down after the first 18 holes of play Monday.

L-R defeated Lincoln Memorial by one stroke while Wingate's Clifford Blanquicet was the top individual for the tournament after finishing with a 148 (+4).

Lenoir-Rhyne junior Brandon Squier (Advance, N.C.) tied for second overall with a 149 (+5) while senior Sam Pressley (Knoxville, Tenn.) and freshman Zach Burket (Taylorsville, N.C.) finished with a 150 (+6) to tie for eighth for the Bears as well.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team next competes in the Aramark Intercollegiate on April 7 and 8 in Hendersonville, N.C.
