Freshman Miles Britton leads the Bears with two goals and two assists in the loss
Lenoir-Rhyne University freshman Miles Britton finished with two goals and a pair of assists in a 15-9 loss to Saint Leo University Sunday in a Deep South Conference match in Saint Leo, Fla.
Saint Leo, Fla. - The Saint Leo Men's Lacrosse Team (5-5, 4-3) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (2-10, 0-6), 15-9, in a Deep South Conference contest Sunday afternoon at University Field.
Saint Leo's Matt Obermeyer (Winter Springs, Fla.) and Ray Ferrara (Potomac, Md.) each finished with a match-high four goals to lead the Lions to the victory.
Freshman Miles Britton (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) led Lenoir-Rhyne with two goals and two assists but the Bears suffered their fourth straight loss.
The Lions took control early as they scored nine consecutive goals en route to a 9-1 advantage late in the first half.
George Proechel (Orlando, Fla.) added three goals for Saint Leo, who held a 45-33 edge in shots taken and a 35-25 advantage in ground balls en route to the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Ned Kaish (Atlanta, Ga.) also scored two goals and now has a team-leading 23 goals on the year.
In goal, Saint Leo's Patrick Berry (Pasadena, Md.) earned the win after making six saves on the day while L-R freshman Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) suffered the loss. Squires stopped three shots for the contest as well.
Lenoir-Rhyne next hosts Florida Tech in a conference match on Friday at Moretz Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. Saint Leo hosts Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
