Rock Hill, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University's Marie Mauhar has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.

Mauhar, a freshman outfielder from Mills River, N.C., batted .667 (eight-for-12) with five doubles, two runs scored and two runs batted in to lead Lenoir-Rhyne to a 3-1 week.

Mauhar started the week with two hits and anRBI in a 2-0 victory in game one of a doubleheader against Wingate last Wednesday on the road.

Mauhar added three hits and drove in the game's lone run in a 1-0 win at Carson-Newman in the first contest of a doubleheader before tallying two hits and two runs scored in a 4-3 victory in the nightcap to complete the sweep of the Eagles.

Mauhar is batting .304 on the season with 14 runs scored, seven doubles and 11 runs batted in for the Bears (31-10, 7-3 South Atlantic Conference).

Tusculum's Elizabeth Johnson was named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Pitcher Of The Week.

Lenoir-Rhyne Universityreturns to action on Thursday afternoon when it travels to Gaffney, S.C., to face Limestone Collegein a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.

L-R then returns to Bears Field to face Mars Hill College in a key South Atlantic Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
