Bears are in sixth place on the men's side and eighth in the women's race

Conover, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Golf Teams are in sixth and eighth place, respectively, after the first two rounds Monday of the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championships. The tournament is being held at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa.
In the men's competition, Lenoir-Rhyne shot a 617 (+41) on the par-72, 6,944-yard Jones course while Wingate leads by 27 strokes after firing an even-par 576 after 36 holes of play.
L-R sophomore David Glenister (Little Britain, Ontario, CANADA) is currently tied for 5th overall with a 148 (+4) while Newberry's Matthew Campbell leads by one stroke with a four-under 140.
On the women's side, Lenoir-Rhyne sits in eighth place with a 699 (+131) while Newberry leads with a 618 (+50) after finishing the first two rounds of the par-71, 5,857-yard Jackson Course.
Sophomore Grace Brahler (Lawrence, Kan.) is the Bears' top golfer so far with a 167 (+25), good for a 24th-place tie, and Newberry's Maria Luz Besio leads with a five-over 147.
The third and final round of the tournament will take place on Tuesday. The awards ceremony will take place immediately following the third round of action as well.
