Milledgeville, Ga. - Three members of the Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team garnered 2012 NCAA Division II Daktronics All-Southeast Region honors including senior catcher Sarah Atkins (Newport News, Va.), who was named to the first team.

In addition to Atkins, L-R senior pitcher Dawon Millwood (Hixson, Tenn.) and junior first baseman Jessica Fellmeth (Waxhaw, N.C.) were selected to the second team.

Atkins batted .322 on the year with 11 home runs and 48 runs batted in en route to earning all-region honors for the third time in her career.

A Second-Team All-American in 2010, Atkins ended her career as the Bears' all-time leader in home runs (46), runs batted in (190) and base on balls (109).

Millwood tallied a 34-8 record, a 1.44 earned run average and 206 strikeouts this past spring as she was named the SAC Pitcher Of The Year for the second straight season.

Millwood, a three-time all-region honoree (2010-12), ranks first on Lenoir-Rhyne's career lists in victories with 100 and shutouts with 43.

Fellmeth earned all-region accolades for the second straight season after leading the Bears this year in home runs (14) and runs batted in (56) while placing second on the team in batting average (.323).

All three players led the Bears to a 48-13 record and a berth in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament in 2012.  L-R also won the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships for the third consecutive year this spring.

The first-team selections will move on to the All-America ballot. The Daktronics All-America programs honor student-athletes in Division II athletic programs. The voting, nomination and calculations are all conducted by the school’s sports information directors.
