Rock Hill, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University's Leah Mullins has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Player Of The Week, league officials announced this afternoon.
Mullins, a freshman forward from Kissimmee, Fla., scored two goals and added an assist for five total points in leading Lenoir-Rhyne to a 2-0 mark to start the 2012 season.
Behind Mullins, Lenoir-Rhyne picked up home victories over Georgia College (2-0) and Lander (3-1) last Friday and Sunday, respectively, in its weekend kickoff classic at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.
In the season opener against the Bobcats Friday, Mullins was credited with the assist on the second goal before scoring twice against the Bearcats Sunday evening.
Lenoir-Rhyne, ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II, will face Pfeiffer at home tonight beginning at 5:00 p.m.
L-R then hosts 11th-ranked Columbus State in a regional showdown Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The contest is the fourth of a six-match home stand to start the year for the Bears.
Mars Hill College's Alex Mullen was selected as the South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player Of The Week. The weekly awards were the first ones of the year.
