Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf In Fourth Place After The First Day Of The Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate

Junior John White leads the Bears with a one-under 71 after the first 18 holes of play

Sevierville, Tenn. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team shot a 298 (+10) to finish in a fourth-place tie after the first round of the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate Monday at the River Course of the Sevierville Golf Club in the first tournament of the year.

Columbus State and Belmont Abbey are tied for first with a two-over 290 on the par-72, 6,994-yard course for the men.

Lenoir-Rhyne is led junior John White (Dudley Shoals, N.C.), who is currently in a 10th-place tie after the first 18 holes of play with a one-under 71. 

Belmont Abbey's John Frisby leads the tournament with a 68 (-4).  L-R sophomore Zach Burket (Taylorsville, N.C.) is tied for 18th with a 73 (+1). 

On the women's side, Lenoir-Rhyne senior Megan Katsch (Wilmington, N.C.) is the top Bears' golfer so far after carding an 80 (+10) and tying for 26th place after the first round.

Newberry and California (Pa.) are tied for first with a 304 (+24) on the par-70, 5,811-yard Highlands Course.  Columbus State's Kimesha Anthony is the top female after round one with a 68 (+2).

The Lenoir-Rhyne women's golf team had only three players tally scores in the tournament today.  The second and final round will take place on Tuesday.
