L-R Men's Golf Finishes Fourth At The Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate

Junior John White finished tied for eighth overall and led Lenoir-Rhyne to a fourth-place tie at the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate which concluded Tuesday in Sevierville, Tenn.

Sevierville, Tenn. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team shot a 595 (+19) to tie for fourth overall out of 15 schools at the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate which concluded Tuesday at the River Course of the Sevierville Golf Club.

Belmont Abbey shot a 582 (+6) on the par-72, 6,994-yard course to win the men's tournament.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior John White (Dudley Shoals, N.C.) led the Bears as he finished tied for eighth with an even-par 144 while the Crusaders' Adam Hedges shot a 138 (-6) and was the top men's golfer in tournament.

L-R sophomore Zach Burket (Taylorsville, N.C.) tied for 24th with a 148 (+4) while sophomore Drew Alford (Statesville, N.C.) carded a 150 (+6), good for a 26th-place tie.

On the women's side, the Bears were led by senior Megan Katsch (Wilmington, N.C.).  Katsch tied for 36th overall with a 162 (+22).

Newberry won the women's tournament with a 606 (+46) on the par-70, 5,811-yard Highlands course while Columbus State's Kimesha Anthony earned individual honors with a four-over 144. 

The Bears had two players complete the second round of play.  L-R freshman Elizabeth Ewing (Greensboro, N.C.) tied for 68th with a 181 (+41) as well.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team next competes in the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate next Monday and Tuesday in Kiawah Island, S.C., while both squads participate in the Tusculum Fall Golf Classic on September 24 and 25.
