Newberry, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (3-4-2, 1-2-1) defeated Newberry College (2-5-1, 0-3-1), 3-1, Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference contest on the road.

Down a goal, the Bears reeled off three straight scores en route to their second consecutive victory.

After Newberry's Mario Stojkowski (Skopje, MACEDONIA) scored just 3:12 into the contest, L-R freshman forward Tobias Tobrant (Boras, SWEDEN) tied the score with his team-leading fifth goal of the year.

Tobias tallied the goal with an empty netter before L-R registered an own goal just before halftime which proved to be the game-winner.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman forward Mattias Thompson (Lahaina, Hawaii) rounded out the scoring for the Bears with a goal in the 84th minute, the first of his career.  Thompson connected from about 12 yards out on a cross from senior midfielder Mehmet Karakilinc (Lanester, FRANCE).

In goal, junior Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) registered the victory after allowing just one goal while tallying six saves on the day.  Newberry's goalkeeper, Nicholas Lucido (Lakeland, Fla.), suffered the loss despite making six stops as well.

Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Montreat, N.C., to face Montreat on Tuesday beginning at 4:00 p.m.  Newberry hosts North Greenville on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
