Rock Hill, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University's Michael Green has been named the South Atlantic Conference Football Defensive Player Of The Week, league officials announced this afternoon.

Green, a junior safety from Kingsland, Ga., picked off two passes in the first half and finished with eight tackles in L-R's 52-10 victory over North Greenville last Saturday night at home.

Both of Green's interceptions came inside the Bears' own five-yard line and each led to Lenoir-Rhyne touchdowns as L-R built a 25-point halftime advantage.

Green, an all-conference selection as both a return specialist and defensive back in 2011, currently has 21 tackles so far this season.

Last year, Green finished second on the team with 63 takedowns to go along with three interceptions and returned two punts for scores en route to all-region honors as well.

Wingate's Nestor Lantigua and Tusculum's Xzanvion Smith were named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive and Special Teams Players Of The Week, respectively.

Lenoir-Rhyne (2-2, 0-1) travels to Brevard, N.C., to take on Brevard (0-5, 0-3) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference game beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Brevard High School.
