Lenoir-Rhyne Takes 12th Place At The Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate In Men's Golf

Sunset Beach, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf Team finished with a 596 (+20) to place 12th overall at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate which concluded Tuesday afternoon at the Sea Trail Golf Resort. L-R was co-hosting the tournament with Lincoln Memorial.
Mount Olive fired a 563 (-13) on the par-72, 6,761-yard course to win the men's tournament, three shots ahead of Barton.
L-R was led by freshman David Donovan (Hampstead, N.C.), who carded a 146 (+2) to tie for 31st overall. Tusculum's Daniel Claytor won the tournament with a seven-under 137.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Drew Alford (Statesville, N.C.) tied for 43rd overall as well as he finished 36 holes of play with a 149 (+5).
On the women's side, Saint Leo was the top women's squad with a 592 (+16) and won by 21 strokes over the competition.
Tusculum's Jillian Corum won the women's tournament after finishing with a one-over 145 on the par-72, 5,988-yard course.
L-R senior Megan Katsch (Wilmington, N.C.) tied for 24th with a 160 (+16) while freshman Elizabeth Ewing (Greensboro, N.C.) ended up with a 180 (+36) to tie for 62nd overall.
The L-R Men's Golf Team will compete in the Lincoln Memorial Fall Invitational on October 15 and 16 in Pineville, Ky. Meanwhile, the Bears' women's squad will also compete on October 15 and 16 in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C.
