Rock Hill, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University's Briana Gottberg has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist Of The Week, league officials announced today.
Gottberg, a freshman setter from Mooresville, N.C., led the Bears to a 3-0 week including a pair of South Atlantic Conference victories as she tallied a double-double in each match.
For the week, Gottberg averaged 20.3 assists, 9.3 digs and 4.3 kills for the Bears.
Gottberg started the week off with 12 kills, 19 assists and five digs in Lenoir-Rhyne's 3-0 win over Limestone at home on Tuesday.
Gottberg then added 21 assists and 13 digs and 21 assists and 10 digs in victories over Mars Hill (3-1) and first-place Tusculum (3-2) last Friday and Saturday at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium, respectively.
Gottberg is currently second on the squad in assists with 240 to go along with 100 digs so far this season for the Bears.
Wingate's Anna Hilton (Hickory, N.C.) was named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player Of The Week.
Lenoir-Rhyne (11-5, 6-2), winners of four straight matches, will return to play this Friday when the Bears travel to Newberry, S.C., to face Newberry in a South Atlantic Conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m.
