Rock Hill, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University's Mario Pinos Garcia has been selected as the South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.
Pinos Garcia, a sophomore forward from Guayaquil, ECUADOR, scored three goals and added an assist to lead L-R to a 2-0 week with a pair of wins over Montreat (5-1) and Brevard (4-1).
Pinos Garcia scored twice to go along with an assist in the Bears' victory against the Cavaliers on the road last Wednesday in a non-league affair.
Pinos Garcia then scored the match's first goal in the win over the Tornados in a conference contest at home last Saturday night at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.
Pinos Garcia, who is second on the squad in goals scored (four) and total points (10) this year, tallied the game-winner in both matches last week.
Lenoir-Rhyne (5-4-2, 2-2-1) has now won four straight matches entering a key South Atlantic Conference contest Wednesday at Mars Hill beginning at 7:00 p.m.
L-R then returns home to face league-rival Carson-Newman as part of Homecoming Weekend on Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m. The match is also Senior Night for the Bears.
