Swannanoa, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Swimming Team defeated both Mars Hill (57-56) and Warren Wilson (102-9) in a tri-meet Friday evening at the DeVries Aquatic Center.
The L-R women's squad downed Warren Wilson by a 102-11 score but fell to Mars Hill, 70-43.
Mars Hill defeated Warren Wilson on both the women's side (102-11) and men's side (100-11).
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Kyle Hites (Lenoir, N.C.) led the way for the men's team with three victories in the 50-yard breaststroke (a school-record 28.12), 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.06) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:59.49).
Meanwhile, freshman Jonathan Hofrichter (Tampa, Fla.) placed first in both the men's 200-yard (1:48.86) and 500-yard (4:48.01) freestyle events and sophomore Niall Courtney (Hendersonville, N.C.) claimed the 50-yard butterfly in 24.55, also a new school record.
On the women's side, freshman Leah Watts (Hickory, N.C.) led Lenoir-Rhyne with first-place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (a school-record 5:11.66), 200-yard freestyle (1:58.65) and 200-yard individual medley (2:14.51).
L-R also picked up a win in the women's 50-yard breaststroke by junior Caroline Mills (Cary, N.C.) with a time of 34.04.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Swimming Teams next host Pfeiffer and Converse on Friday, November 2, at the Shuford P.E. Center beginning at 4:00 p.m.
