L-R senior captain Carley Griffin and the Bears will enter the 2012 Food Lion SAC Women's Soccer Tournament as the top seed and will host Mars Hill Wednesday in the opening round at 4:00 p.m.

Rock Hill, S.C. - For the third straight year, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team will be the top seed in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.

L-R (13-1-2) will face eighth-seeded Mars Hill (6-12) in the quarterfinal round at home on Wednesday afternoon at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Lenoir-Rhyne, ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division II, defeated Mars Hill earlier this season by a 4-0 score on October 10 in Mars Hill, N.C.

The Bears lead the all-time series with the Lions, 18-3, and have won the past six meetings between the two schools.

Lenoir-Rhyne is also unbeaten in its last 12 matches (10-0-2) and is currently ranked second in the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Rankings.  The top six squads earn a berth to the playoffs.

L-R, under first-year Head Coach Cally Morrill, has advanced to the last three conference tournament championship matches and won the title in 2010.

This year, the Bears are being led by freshman forward Leah Mullins (Kissimmee, Fla.) and senior goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs (Torrance, Calif.).

Mullins is first on the squad in goals scored (11) and total points (25) while Scruggs has a 0.42 goals-against average with six shutouts and 63 saves.

The semifinals and finals of the league tournament will take place at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C., on Friday, November 2, and Sunday, November 4, respectively.  The winner of the conference tournament earns an automatic qualifying bid to the playoffs.
