Rock Hill, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team will take on Carson-Newman in the opening round of the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
The Bears, the seventh seed in the tournament, will play the second-seeded Eagles on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m., in Jefferson City, Tenn.
Lenoir-Rhyne is 6-6-4 on the year while Carson-Newman enters the tournament with a mark of 7-5-3.
The Bears and the Eagles played to a 1-1 tie earlier this season on October 13, in Hickory, N.C. Carson-Newman leads the all-time series with Lenoir-Rhyne, 16-13-2.
Lenoir-Rhyne, under fourth-year Head Coach Tom Gott, advanced all the way to the league tournament finals last season before falling to Anderson by a 1-0 score in overtime.
The Bears have also captured three SAC Tournament Titles (1992, 2000 and 2006) in school history.
Lenoir-Rhyne is led this year by freshman forward Tobias Tobrant (Boras, SWEDEN) with eight goals scored and 17 points and junior goalkeeper Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) with a conference-leading 93 saves.
The semifinals and finals of the conference tournament will be held at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C., on Friday, November 2, and Sunday, November 4, respectively.
