Hickory, N.C. - The Anderson University Volleyball Team (14-8, 8-4) picked up a South Atlantic Conference road win with a 3-1 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University (8-11, 5-9) Saturday afternoon at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium. The Trojans prevailed by scores of 25-16, 15-25, 25-12 and 26-24.
Anderson was fueled by Jamie Lancaster's (Fountain Inn, S.C.) match-high 20 kills while Lindsay Doggett (Jacksonville, Ala.) added 38 assists as the Trojans won their third consecutive match.
Lenoir-Rhyne fell despite a 17-kill, 15-dig performance from junior outside hitter Brooke Christenbury (Mooresville, N.C.).
Junior middle blocker Chelsea Hill (Lexington, N.C.) and sophomore outside hitter Katelin Wensley (Advance, N.C.) added 11 and 10 kills, respectively, while freshman setter Kaitlyn Burton (Mills River, N.C.) tallied a match-high 39 assists despite the loss for the Bears.
Anderson also swept the season series from L-R and moved into sole possession of third place in the league standings.
Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Bristol, Tenn., to face King on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Anderson, meanwhile, visits Augusta, Ga., to play August State Wednesday at 7 p.m.
