Lenoir-Rhyne Swimmings Opens The 2010-11 Season At The Boo Bash Relays

Women's squad places fourth while the men's team takes fifth for the Bears

Salisbury, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's and Women's Swimming Teams opened the 2010-11 season Saturday at the Boo Bash Relays at the Country Club of Salisbury. The L-R women's team placed fourth overall while the men's squad, in its first season of competition, finished fifth.

Converse College (women) and Queens University (men) took home the team titles at the meet.

On the women's side, the 300-yard backstroke relay team finished third with a time of 3:17.42 while the 400-yard medlay relay (4:24.00), 200-yard freestyle relay (1:49.00), 800-yard freestyle relay (8:47.32) and 400-yard individual medley (4:30.36) squads placed fourth.

For the L-R men, the 500-yard freestyle relay team (4:30.14) had the Bears' highest finish in the meet (third place) while the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:44.76) and the 300-yard butterfly relay (2:55.1) squads placed fourth overall.

Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Mars Hill College and Pfeiffer University in a home-opening tri-meet next Saturday at the Shuford Physical Education Center beginning at 2 p.m.
