LENOIR-RHYNE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S GOLF PLACES THREE ON THE 2011 ALL-SAC SECOND TEAM

Brenna Martens, Katie Thackerson and Brandon Squier all earn all-league accolades

Rock Hill, S.C. - Three members of the Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's and Women's Golf Teams were named to the 2011 All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team, league officials announced today.

On the women's side, junior Katie Thackerson (Earl, N.C.) and senior Brenna Martens (St. Croix Falls, Wis.) earned all-conference second-team accolades 

Thackerson leads the team in stroke average (79.6) this year and garnered all-conference accolades for the second time in her career.  Thackerson was also named to the 2008-09 All-SAC Second Team as a freshman.

Martens, a three-time all-conference pick, is currently second on the squad in stroke average (80.1).

Sophomore Brandon Squier (Advance, N.C.) was named to the 2010-11 All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team for the men and enters the league championship tournament with a team-leading 75.0-stroke average.

Both squads will compete in the 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's and Women's Golf Championships on Monday and Tuesday (April 11 and 12) at the Rock Barn Golf and Spa in Conover, N.C.
