LENOIR-RHYNE COMPETES AT THE INDOOR FAST TRACK INVITATIONAL

L-R next competes in the Gene Anderson Invitational next Saturday

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Teams competed in the Fast Track Invitational Saturday at the JDK Fast Track.

On the women's side, L-R sophomore Ashley Kale (Maiden, N.C.) placed 15th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:30 while freshman Hanna Ramirez (Charlotte, N.C.) ran the one-mile in 5:59, good for 29th-place.

Sophomore Kate Coleman (Spring Arbor, Mich.) also finished 29th as she ran a 1:05 in the 400-meter dash and was 42nd in the 200-meter dash (28.82).

Junior Elizabeth Chaffee (Winston-Salem, N.C.) placed 47th in the 800-meter run (2:35), sophomore Alyse Childress (Brevard, N.C.) finished 41st in the 3,000-meter run (11:49) and Lenoir-Rhyne's 1,600-meter relay team placed 16th overall (4:40.06) as well.

For the L-R men, freshman Jarrod Spears (Bunnlevel, N.C.) ran the 60-meter dash in 7.03 seconds, good for 20th overall, while freshman Daryel Morris (Rome, Ga.) placed 24th in the 200-meter dash (23.21) and 29th in the 400-meter dash (52.04).

Freshman Mike York (Kannapolis, N.C.) was 28th in the one-mile run (4:34) and freshman James Palaniuk (Marina, Calif.) placed 41st in the 800-meter dash (2:09.25).

In the field events, sophomore Aaron Nelson (Mayodan, N.C.) was 10th in the pole vault (12'5.5"), freshman Jon Holts (Grottoes, Va.) was fifth in the high jump (6'0.8"), junior Artis Gilmore (Asheville, N.C.) was 23rd in the long jump (20'1") and freshman Anthony Avery (Winston-Salem, N.C.) was 29th in the shot put (38'5.5").

Nelson, meanwhile, was also 45th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:14.

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's and Women's Track Teams next compete in the Gene Anderson Invitational on Saturday on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.  It is the final indoor meet of the season for the Bears.
