Katie Pate is entering her third year as a member of the Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Basketball Staff.
Two yeas ago, Pate was elevated to Associate Head Coach after spending one year as an Assistant Coach for Lenoir-Rhyne in 2010-11.
Pate came to L-R after serving one season as Women’s Basketball Recruiting Coordinator for Wingate University (2009-10).
Prior to Wingate, Pate spent two years at USC Upstate (2007-09) as the school’s Director of Athletics Marketing and Promotions.
Pate was also the Senior Woman Administrator and Head Women’s Basketball Coach at both Belmont Abbey College (2005-07) and Coker College (2001-05). Her tenure at Coker included a single-season school record 19 wins in 2003-04.
During her stints at both institutions, Pate was instrumental in the strategic planning of the athletic departments and helped coordinate the marketing and promotions of Coker and Belmont Abbey’s athletic teams. In addition, Pate helped run and organize conference tournaments hosted by each college.
Pate, a 1997 graduate of Coker with bachelor degrees in both Spanish and exercise science, was a standout member of the Cobras’ Women’s Basketball Team. Pate was a three-year captain and earned First-Team All-Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference honors.
Pate started her career as an Assistant Coach for Coker in 1998 before moving on to USC Spartanburg as an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach, her first of two stops at the Spartanburg, S.C., school.
Pate also received her master’s degree from Webster University in business administration in 2004.
