Shuford Memorial Arena has been home to the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Basketball Teams as well as the Bears' Volleyball Program since the 1956-57 season.  Shuford Gym has a capacity of 3,200 and was erected in the memory of the late A. Alex Shuford, Sr. and celebrated its 65th year during the 2020-21 season.

Shuford Arena also houses the Lenoir-Rhyne University Athletics Department and the Bears Club office space.

Major renovations have occurred recently to the gymnasium. In 2020, the gym received all new banners to commemorate championship men's and women's basketball teams as well as volleyball. Also in 2020, the floor was officially named after longtime men's basketball coach John Lentz.

In the summer of 2021, Shuford Memorial Gymnasium was renamed the Shuford Memorial Arena with upgrades that included a new court, new sound system, new lights, branding, and paint. In the fall of 2022, all new bleachers which include both seat backs and bench back seats were installed along with a pair of new videoboards, modernized glass railing, and a brand new full-length scorers table was upgraded.

The men's basketball team boasts 55 winning records at Shuford Gym in the first 65 years and have won 71.8 percent of their home games at the venue. The vollyeball team has captured league championships in 2004, 2006 and 2021.
