Football Tailgating Etiquette

The following tailgating rules will be in effect for the 2025 Lenoir-Rhyne University football season to ensure a safe and enjoyable tailgating experience for all fans. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics encourages fans to arrive at the stadium early, tailgate, and enjoy LR football!
 
Tips for Enjoying Gameday:
 
Help us maintain a fun, safe, and secure environment. If you see something, say something!  
If you drink, please do so responsibly. Watch out for friends.
Be mindful of young children in all areas surrounding the stadium.
Pick up after yourself and your party.
Remember that Lenoir-Rhyne University is a tobacco and smoke-free campus.
Fortified wine and spirituous liquor are prohibited while on public property, or private property that is open to the public per North Carolina General Statute 18b-301 (f) (4) It is unlawful to possess and consume fortified wine and spirituous liquor unless the establishment has a permit authorizing consumption on the premises.
It is unlawful to possess, purchase, sell to, or give to anyone under the age of 21 per North Carolina General Statute 18B-302.

Lenoir-Rhyne University Tailgating Rules
 
  • All tailgating rules apply to all parking lots and designated tailgating areas on campus.
  • Stadium Tailgate Lot opens 5 hours prior to kickoff
  • All state and local laws must be observed.
  • Tailgating is for one parking space only.
  • Tents and canopies in the Stadium Lot should not exceed 10'x10' and must be secured. They must not obstruct sidewalks, drive lanes or walkways per fire code.
  • Persons acting in a disruptive, disrespectful or disorderly manner may be asked to leave the premises and/or be subject to a citation from the University, City or County Law Enforcement. Students will be subject to the Lenoir-Rhyne University Student Code of Conduct.
  • Trash must be placed in the appropriate trash receptacles.
  • Grills should be attended to at all times. Fires on the ground and fire pits are strictly prohibited. Fire extinguishers are recommended.
  • Pets should be leashed at all times and are not permitted inside Moretz Stadium.
  • Electronically amplified sound system or musical instrument that produces a sound that is clearly audible at fifty feet within a designated tailgate parking lot are prohibited.
  • Kegs are prohibited and glass bottles are strongly discouraged.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne is a tobacco-free campus. No smoking is allowed.
  • Do not move or remove any traffic control barricades or devices.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne University is not responsible or liable for accidents, damage, loss or theft of materials/items/personal property.
GOLD LOT PARKING AREA ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • The Gold Lot is a reserved tailgate area. Passes are available only through a Bears Club membership.
  • The Gold Lot opens 5 hours prior to kickoff with the exception of Homecoming, when the lot opens 6 hours prior to game time.
  • The inside of the practice field is open for play. Please do so at your own risk.
  • Children under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • Tailgaters will be held responsible for damage to LR property.
