The Lenoir-Rhyne Women?s Soccer Team (11-3, 2-2) scored twice with under 15 minutes left in regulation to defeat Lincoln Memorial University (5-5-2, 1-2), 2-1, Saturday at the Moretz Sports ? Athletic Complex in a South Atlantic Conference match.? L-R sophomore defender Catherine Hauck (Lake Mary, Fla.) scored the game-winner with 5:44 left to lift the Bears to the win.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Railsplitters got on the board just 1:44 into the second half when Karen Boleska (Burlington, ONTARIO) tallied her first goal of the year, unassisted, to give LMU the lead.
Lenoir-Rhyne finally tied the score in the 76th minute when freshman midfielder Marianne Broevik (Drammen, NORWAY) tallied her second goal of the year from 25 yards out on a throw-in from sophomore midfielder Mariel Mena (Gainesville, Fla.) to make it one-all.
Hauck then scored the game-winner with under sixth minutes left after receiving a cross from senior defender Shannon Agnew (Alpharetta, Ga.) and finishing from six yards out.? The goal was Hauck?s fifth of the season.
Senior defender Katelyn Burwell (Carthage, N.C.) picked up the win in goal after allowing just one goal while tallying five saves as the Bears held an 18-9 advantage in shots.? Lincoln Memorial?s Sarah Thompson (Frederick, Md.) suffered the loss despite stopping five shots.
Lenoir-Rhyne next visits Queens for a 6 p.m., contest on Tuesday while Lincoln Memorial hosts SAC-foe Newberry on Tuesday beginning at 3 p.m.
