St. Augustine's Men's Basketball Defeats Lenoir-Rhyne, 65-54

Savannah, Ga. ? The St. Augustine?s University Men?s Basketball Team (7-1) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University (2-6), 65-54, Friday afternoon on the first day of the Hampton Inn & Suites Fall Finals Classic at Alumni Arena.

St. Augustine?s Chris Jordan (Houston, Texas) led all scorers with 19 points as the Falcons increased their winning streak to seven games.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior forward D.J. Blackmon (Albemarle, N.C.) tallied a team-high 17 points and six rebounds while senior guard Marcus Hodges (Wake Forest, N.C.) added 15 points in the losing effort for the Bears.

An 11-2 run early in the second half gave Lenoir-Rhyne its biggest lead of the contest at 46-41 on a three-pointer by freshman forward Kameko Walls (Winston-Salem, N.C.) with 10:15 remaining.

However, St. Augustine?s responded with a 16-4 run of its own over the next six minutes to take a 57-50 advantage and Lenoir-Rhyne wasn?t able to get any closer than five points the rest of the way.

George Degroat (Portsmouth, Va.) also scored in double figures as he finished with 12 points for the Falcons, who limited the Bears to just 30 percent shooting (15-of-50) for the game.

Lenoir-Rhyne next plays the host school, Armstrong Atlantic State, Saturday on the final day of the classic beginning at 8:00 p.m.
