Charlotte, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne senior D.J. Blackmon (Albemarle, N.C.) has been named a 2010-11 Sporting News NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Preseason Honorable Mention All-American.
Blackmon, a forward from Albemarle, N.C., led the Bears in scoring (20.5 ppg), rebounding (6.8 rpg) and assists (2.7 apg) last year en route to First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors.
Blackmon, who was also named to the 2009-10 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Second Team, scored in double figures in every game last year and became the 50th player to cross the 1,000-point mark in school history.?
Blackmon has been an all-league pick the last two years and has 1,095 career points entering the 2010-11 season.
Lenoir-Rhyne opens the season on Monday, November 15, when it travels to Mount Olive, N.C., to face Mount Olive beginning at 7 p.m.?
L-R will host the South Atlantic Conference/Conference Carolinas Tip-Off Classic on November 19 and 20.? The Bears will play Limestone (Friday, November 19) and Queens (Saturday, November 20).? Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
