Lenoir-Rhyne freshman guard Allan Jones led the Bears with 19 points in an 87-61 loss to Anderson in South Atlantic Conference action Wednesday in Anderson, S.C.

Anderson, S.C. - The Anderson University Men's Basketball Team (8-5, 2-1) pulled away in the second half in an 87-61 win over Lenoir-Rhyne University (2-9, 1-2) Wednesday night at the Abney Athletic Center in a South Atlantic Conference game.

Five players scored in double figures for the Trojans led by Kevis Cornwell (York, S.C.) and Nick Trull (Charlotte, N.C.) with 17 points each.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman guard Allan Jones (Clemmons, N.C.) came off the bench to score a team-high 19 points while freshman guard R.J. McClure (Canton, N.C.) added 17 points and three treys despite the setback.

After taking a 43-37 lead into halftime, Anderson broke the game open with a 14-3 run to start the second half.

Cornwell capped the run with a lay-up with 13:58 remaining in regulation for a 57-40?advantage?as Anderson would push its?lead to as many as 27 points en route to the win.

Denzail Jones (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) added 15 points for the Trojans, who finished with 11 three-pointers in the victory.

Anderson also shot 54 percent (30-for-56) for the game?while L-R hit just 31 percent (17-for-55) of its shots in suffering its third straight loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Carson-Newman in a league match Saturday at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium beginning at 6 p.m., while Anderson hosts conference-foe?Catawba Saturday at 4 p.m.
