Lenoir-Rhyne junior forward Carley Griffin scored the only goal of the match in the Bears' 1-0 win over Columbus State Sunday afternoon at the Walden Soccer Complex in Columbus, Ga.

Columbus, Ga. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (8-1) ran its winning streak to?seven with a 1-0 victory over Columbus State (6-3-2) Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Hughston Sports Clinic Shootout at the Walden?Soccer Complex.?

The Bears are ranked eighth nationally while the Cougars are No. 23 in NCAA Division II.

Junior forward Carley Griffin (Fresno, Calif.) scored the lone goal of the match in the 17th minute for Lenoir-Rhyne.

Griffin connected from about 35 yards out as the ball hit the crossbar and bounced in for the score.? The goal was Griffin's team-leading sixth of the season.

Columbus State held a 16-9 advantage in shots taken but L-R junior goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs (Torrance, Calif.) pick up the shutout to go along with five saves.

Lenoir-Rhyne has now held its opponent scoreless in four of the team's last five matches.

Columbus State's Mary Mancin (Gainesville, Ga.) suffered the loss in goal despite allowing just one score and making a save.

L-R returns home to face Catawba in a South Atlantic Conference match Wednesday at 7 p.m., at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.? Columbus State plays at Georgia Southwestern Wednesday at 5 p.m.
