Hickory, N.C. - The Catawba College Women's Tennis Team (10-9, 3-3) pulled out a 5-4 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University (1-9, 1-5) in a South Atlantic Conference match Monday afternoon at Hickory High School.

Sophomore Kelsey Love (Port Orange, Fla.) and junior Emily Mauser (Hickory, N.C.) both swept singles and a doubles for Lenoir-Rhyne despite the loss.

Love defeated Catawba's Nicole Boyle (Vienna, W.Va.) by a 6-4, 6-2 score while Mauser upended Kasia Zielinski (Erie, Pa.), 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.

Love and Mauser improved to 5-1 against league opponents at first doubles in 2011 after downing Boyle and Zielinski, 8-6.

The Bears' other victory came at second doubles with senior Cathryn Jarrett (Salem, Va.) and sophomore Ivey Tant (Lansing, N.C.) beating the Indians' Ally Prior (Raleigh, N.C.) and Candace Hall (Denver, N.C.), 9-8 (8-6).

L-R travels to Brevard, N.C., to face Brevard in a South Atlantic Conference match on Wednesday beginning at 2:30 p.m.
