Anderson, S.C. - The eighth-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (4-1, 1-0) made it three in a row with a 1-0 victory over Anderson (3-4, 0-1) Saturday afternoon in its South Atlantic Conference opener at Trojan Field.
After a scoreless first half, Lenoir-Rhyne finally broke through when senior All-American midfielder Catherine Hauck (Lake Mary, Fla.) scored in the 57th minute.
Hauck hit a shot past the right post from about 25 yards out for the match's lone goal.
The score was also Hauck's team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs (Torrance, Calif.) picked up her first shutout of the year for the Bears after stopping three Trojan shots for the win.
Anderson's Kaitlyn Neipp (Anderson, S.C.) suffered the loss in goal despite allowing just one score while making three saves.
Lenoir-Rhyne also held a 19-3 advantage in shots taken?in notching its first shutout of the year.
L-R next travels to Brevard, N.C., to face Brevard in a league match Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m., while Anderson hosts SAC-foe Newberry Wednesday at 5 p.m.
