No. 19 Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Puts Down Brevard, 8-0

Freshman defender Brianna Belsky scored the game-winning goal for the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team in an 8-0 victory over Brevard Saturday evening in a conference contest in Hickory, N.C.

Hickory, N.C. - The 19th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (9-1, 5-0) exploded for six second-half goals en route to a dominating, 8-0 win over Brevard (1-9-1, 0-5) Saturday evening at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.

Freshman forward Leah Mullins (Kissimmee, Fla.) tallied a hat trick as the Bears won their sixth straight match and 15th consecutive conference regular season contest dating back to 2010.

Mullins now has a team-leading 11 goals on the year while Lenoir-Rhyne held a 43-2 advantage in shots taken in the win.

Freshman defender Brianna Belsky (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) got the Bears on the board in the 27th minute with a shot from about 20 yards out from the right as she finished off a rebounded free kick.

Mullins made it 2-0 just 27 seconds later after she dribbled past several defenders and finished off a shot in the left corner of the net.

Mullins then opened the scoring just over five minutes after halftime with a goal at the 50:39 mark and the rout was on for the Bears.

Freshman midfielder Garcelle Alequine (Wilmington, Del.) assisted on Lenoir-Rhyne's fourth and fifth goals as the Bears registered their second straight shutout.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs (Torrance, Calif.) played the first half and was credited with the victory while Brevard's Brittany Webster (Stafford, Va.) suffered the loss in goal despite tallying 12 saves on the day.
