Lenoir-Rhyne senior goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs allowed just a single goal in a 1-0 overtime loss to Belmont Abbey in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs Friday afternoon in Columbus, Ga.

Columbus, Ga. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (16-2-2) saw its 2012 season come to an end with a 1-0 overtime loss to Belmont Abbey (12-9-1) Friday afternoon in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament at the Walden Soccer Complex.

Belmont Abbey, the sixth seed in the regionals, will now face second-seeded Columbus State (17-3-1) on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

Lenoir-Rhyne, who lost for the first time in 16 matches, was seeded third in this year's Southeast Regional Tournament.

The Crusaders' Ananada Gebreyesus (Alameda, Calif.) scored the lone goal of the match just 38 seconds into the first overtime to lift Belmont Abbey to the win.? The goal was Gebreyesus' fourth of the year.

L-R, ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II, lost despite holding a 24-5 edge in shots taken on the afternoon.

Belmont Abbey's Hannah Kohls (Cincinnati, Ohio) registered the victory in goal after stopping 12 shots while L-R senior goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs (Torrance, Calif.) suffered the loss.? Scruggs allowed just one goal in?over 90 minutes?of action.

Lenoir-Rhyne, the 2012 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champions, has compiled a 52-7-5 record over its last three seasons.
