Hickory, N.C. - The L-R Men's Basketball Team (13-4, 6-3) knocked Anderson (11-6, 7-2) out of first place in the South Atlantic Conference standings?with its 75-58 win over the Trojans Wednesday evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

L-R sophomore guard Denzel Dillingham (Hickory, N.C.) led all scorers with 30 points, four off his career-high, as the Bears won their third straight game in the process.

Junior guard R.J. McClure (Canton, N.C.) added 13 points including 12 after halftime while junior guard Jarvis Perry (Willingboro, N.J.) dished out a game-high 10 assists as the Bears surpassed last season's win total.

Anderson's Chandler Hash (Greer, S.C.) and Myson Jones (Aiken, S.C.) each scored 14 points but the Trojans saw their five-game winning streak against the Bears snapped.

Clinging to a 52-49 lead with 5:59 remaining, Lenoir-Rhyne took over thanks to three consecutive treys by McClure to push its advantage to 12 points and the Bears remained in control the rest of the way.

L-R, who improved to 5-1 at home this year, also hit nine three-pointers - six by Dillingham - and held Anderson to just 28 percent shooting (five-of-18) from behind the three-point line.

Lenoir-Rhyne also scored the first 10 points of the game and shot 52 percent (14-of-27) in the second half en route to the victory.

In the next round of league contests, Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Newberry Saturday at 6:00 p.m., while Anderson returns home to take on Mars Hill on Saturday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
