Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Notches Road Shutout Victory Over Lees-McRae, 1-0

Banner Elk, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team (8-3-2) got back to its winning ways with a 1-0 shutout victory on the road over Lees-McRae (4-9) Wednesday night at Tate Field.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior defender Jessica Feronti (Melbourne, Fla.) scored the lone goal of the match for the Bears at the 18:41 mark of the first half.

Feronti scored just outside the box when her shot deflected off the crossbar and into the net.  The goal was Feronti's third of the year.

Lenoir-Rhyne dominated the match despite the final score.  The Bears held a 24-3 margin in shots taken in a regional contest and the last non-conference match of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Andrea Leano (San Diego, Calif.) also picked up her fourth shutout of the year.

Leano made one save while Lees-McRae's goalkeeper, Alexis Feely (Raleigh, N.C.), took the loss despite totaling 10 saves.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns to South Atlantic Conference play this Saturday at home against Brevard at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex beginning at 5:00 p.m.  The match is the Bears' annual Breast Cancer Awareness contest.  Lees-McRae faces Belmont Abbey on the road Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
