Charlotte, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Men's Basketball Team (15-0, 9-0), ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II, remained unbeaten on the season with a 78-56 win over Lenoir-Rhyne (6-8, 5-4) Wednesday evening in a South Atlantic Conference game at Curry Arena.
The Royals were led by Todd Withers (Greensboro, N.C.) with a double-double – 26 points and 11 rebounds – while Darryl White (Charlotte, N.C.) added 13 points in the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne was led by senior guard
Darrion Evans (Morganton, N.C.) with 26 points and junior guard
Reed Lucas (Greensboro, N.C.) with 12 points in the loss. Both players hit four three-pointers but the Bears were limited to just 33 percent shooting (20-of-60) for the contest.
Lenoir-Rhyne was in striking distance at halftime – trailing by only a 39-31 score – but Queens broke the contest open after intermission.
The Royals used a 14-2 run to put the game out of reach capped off by a three-pointer from White for a 60-42 advantage with just under 10 minutes left in the contest.
Queens also held a 42-31 edge on the boards while both teams hit 10 treys on the evening.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face Mars Hill in a South Atlantic Conference game while Queens travels to Greeneville, Tenn., to take on Tusculum. Both league games take place on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
