Pembroke, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Basketball Team (0-1) opened the 2017-18 campaign with a 65-56 loss to No. 21 UNC Pembroke (1-0) Friday afternoon on the first day of the Peach Belt/South Atlantic Conference Challenge at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
• UNC Pembroke's Nigel Grant (Bronx, N.Y.) finished with a team-high 14 points to go along with 10 boards and was one of three players in double figures for the Braves. UNC Pembroke also held a 44-30 edge in rebounding and limited the Bears to just 24 percent shooting (five-of-21).
• Lenoir-Rhyne junior guard Cory Thomas (Louisville, Ky.) and junior guard Djibril Diallo (Conakry, GUINEA) combined for 33 points in the setback. Thomas had a game-high 17 points while Diallo added 16 points in the losing effort.
