Men's Basketball Rolls Past Young Harris in Season Opener

Box Score HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team scored the first 14 points of the game and never looked back in a 101-72 victory over Young Harris in the Bears season opener. LR built a lead of 41-11 en route to topping the century mark for the first time since November 16, 2016.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•    The Bears shot a scorching 63.1 percent from the field in the first half and 53 percent from the floor in the game. The hot shooting helped LR build a lead of as much as 35 points in the first half before the Mountain Lions chipped away.
•    Cory Thomas scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting and added six rebounds in just 24 minutes of action. 
•    Filip Leskovar maximized his playing time, pouring in 10 points and grabbing three boards in just six minutes. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    The Bears never trailed in the game as Head Coach Everick Sullivan earned a win in the season opener for the first time in his three seasons. LR fell to UNC Pembroke the past two seasons in the opener. 
•    LR dominated the lane, outscoring the Mountain Lions 60-32 in the paint. The Bears also held a 16-4 advantage in fast break points.

LR will return to action tomorrow when they host Emmanuel at 5:30 p.m.
