Women's Soccer Readies for Rematch with Lincoln Memorial

HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team has only lost twice this season but one of those defeats came to Lincoln Memorial who LR faces in the SAC Tournament Semifinal on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The Bears will look to not only avenge that loss but also a defeat in this same round of the SAC Tournament in 2018.

The Bears have lost three straight to LMU but own the all-time series 10-8. Coming into the match, each team ranks in the NCAA Division II Regional Rankings. The Bears held strong at No. 2 while the Railsplitters rank No. 9.

Aqsa Mushtaq was named the SAC Offensive Player of the Year and Gary Higgins earned league Coach of the Year honors. Unsuprisingly, seven First Team All-Conference performers will be on the field in the Semifinal matchup. Mushtaq trailed only LMU's Jessica Cravero in goals (16) and points (35). LMU also had the league's assist leader in Thenia Zervas with 16.

As mentioned, LMU topped LR in the 2018 Semifinal and went on to win the SAC Tournament. Lenoir-Rhyne is seeking its first SAC Tournament title since 2012 and just the third in program history. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. with the winner moving on to the championship match on Sunday at 4 p.m.
