Men's Basketball Dominates Cobras at Home

HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team took an early 7-0 lead and never looked back as the Bears crushed the Cobras 98-71 fpr a South Atlantic Conference home victory on Wednesday night.

STATS OF THE GAME:
•  The Bears had four players score in double-figures, led by Jon Jean, with his season-high 20 points on a perfect night from the floor (7-for-7). Jean was also perfect from long range, 4-for-4. Cory Thomas (18), Darius Simmons (13) and Djibril Diallo (12) round out the list of double-digit scorers.  
•  Lenoir-Rhyne was efficient on the offensive end, shooting 48.8 (39-of-80) for the game while the Cobras were limited to 42.9 (27-of-63). The Bears held the Cobras to 4-of-22 from beyond the arc, 18.2 percent.
•   The Bears owned the boards in the win, outrebounding the Cobras by a count of 48-33 and held the advantage in second chance points (14-4), points off turnovers (19-11), bench points (39-35) and made 23 assists on 39 made field goals.  
•   Coker was led by three double-digit scorers, Khalil Halls and Chandler Lindsey with 14 each and Abdul Sarki with 10. Sarki was flirting with a double-double as he led the team with eight rebounds.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
•    LR's first half total of 59 points was the highest mark in a half for the 2018-19 season.
•    The deficit in the victory is the second-largest of the season at 27 points.
•    The Cobras give up an average of 88 points per game going into the contest, and the Bears fell just short of the century mark for their ninth game of more than 90 points this year.

The Bears hit the road as they return to action on Saturday afternoon at Mars Hill in SAC play. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
